Why this guide?
Trezor Suite Ápp® simplifies the process of taking custody of your crypto safely. This guide walks you through downloading Suite, verifying it, initializing a device, creating or restoring a recovery seed, and moving funds from an exchange into your own custody.
1) Download & verify Trezor Suite Ápp®
Visit the official Suite page and choose the desktop or web app. If you want maximum assurance, download the desktop app and verify the binary signature using the instructions on the official site. Official downloads and guides: trezor.io/trezor-suite and trezor.io/start.
2) Initialize your device
Plug in your Trezor, choose “Create new wallet” (unless you are restoring), and follow on-device prompts. The device will generate a seed phrase — write it down carefully and store it offline. Do not share your recovery phrase with anyone. The Suite will never ask for it directly in the app.
3) Set a PIN & optional passphrase
Set a secure PIN on-device. Optionally enable a passphrase for an extra hidden-wallet layer; understand the consequences before enabling.
4) Update firmware
Use Suite’s firmware flow to install the latest device firmware; updates often fix security issues. See the firmware changelog for details about each release.
5) Transfer funds from exchanges
Create receiving addresses in Suite and move funds from exchanges to your new address. Confirm all transaction data on-device before approving. For speed and fee optimization, check recommended fee settings in Suite’s advanced transaction options.
Additional best practices
Keep your recovery seed in a fire- and water-resistant safe or use a metal backup plate. Never photograph or digitally store the full recovery phrase. If you hold substantial assets, consider multisig schemes or geographic redundancy for backups.
